What do these statistics mean?
Persistent identifier
A stable, opaque identifier that stays the same for the same person across visits. When Studid receives one, it becomes the authIdentifier and can be used to recognize a returning user. This institution advertises that it can issue them — that doesn't guarantee every login returns one.
Transient identifier
A random, one-time identifier that changes on every login. Great for privacy, but useless for recognizing a returning user. When only transient is available, Studid falls back to the institution (entityId) plus per-session tracking.
Unspecified format
The institution doesn't commit to a specific NameID format and decides per login. It may return a persistent, transient, or other identifier.
R&S (Research & Scholarship)
A REFEDS commitment: institutions that sign up agree to release basic user attributes (name, e-mail, affiliation) to services that also declare R&S. It signals the institution is data-protection compliant around attribute release. Note: Studid is not an R&S service, so this does not guarantee Studid receives attributes — but it's a strong sign the institution cooperates with attribute release.
Pseudonymous Access
A REFEDS category where the institution commits to releasing a stable pseudonymous identifier (pairwise-id) to eligible services. If released, Studid uses it as the authIdentifier (type pairwise-id) — ideal for recognizing users without revealing their identity.
Anonymous Access
The institution commits to releasing only anonymous/transient identifiers, maximizing user privacy. Users cannot be recognized across sessions from this institution.
Single logout (SLO)
The institution supports logging a user out of every service in a single session at once. Useful if you build a logout flow on top of Studid.
Logo available
Share of institutions in this federation that publish a usable logo in their SAML metadata. These power the logo cloud on the Studid homepage.
